The DMK-Congress combine, which currently is the ruling party of Tamil Nadu, has taken the reins of the by-elections that were held in the five constituencies of the state on Aug 18.
The opening results show DMK candidates taking charge at Bargur, Cumbum and Illayangudi, where as Tondamuthur and Srivaikundam have the reins in the hands of Congress.
DMDK is at the second place, but the difference is very large.
AIADMK and PMK had not participated in the election as they had alleged that the elections will not be held in a fair fashion.
