Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has put aside the speculation that his relation with the Prime Minister of Russia, Vladimir Putin, has hit the rocks. He mentioned that the reports were just rumours and added that they were having a comfortable working relation.
Putin had been the President of Russia for two full terms. In 2008, Putin had quit the post of President, only to assume the charge of prime minister. He had sparked off a speculation in the recent times that he has plans for returning to Presidency in 2012.
In an interview broadcast Sunday Medvedev said "I think I work very comfortably with the government and with Putin."
But he emphasized that "of course, all directives, all decisions, are taken by the president."
Medvedev repeated the former controversial criticisms he had made of Russia, mentioning that Russia is still behind other nations in terms of democracy.
He added that the dismissal of the government was not for showcasing his political strength, saying: "I won't do that that now."
