The landing of space shuttle Discovery, scheduled on Thursday at Florida's Kennedy Space Center was postponed due to thunderstorms.

The landing was originally set for 7.05 p.m. before being pushed to 8.40 p.m. on Friday because of weather concerns. US space agency NASA decided to scrap Thursday's landing altogether when the storm threat lingered.

NASA said it would try again during a 'launch window' beginning at 6.48 p.m. from Cape Canaveral on the Atlantic Coast, where the space centre is located.

If the weather concerns prevail for Friday, then the landing may take place at on the other side of the US, at Edwards Air Force Base in the California desert.

The crew of six US and a Swedish astronaut of space shuttle Discovery accomplished the mission of delivering equipments and experiments at the International Space Station.

During three spacewalks, astronauts replaced an empty ammonia tank and made other repairs.
