Discovery Communications has elevated the responsibilities of Kelly Day by making her COO of its Digital Media and Commerce division. Day will now report to Digital Media and Corporate Development president Bruce Campbell. In her new role Day will oversee all operations for the recently combined Digital Media and Commerce division, including the company's U.S. Web sites, Interactive Technology, Digital Operations and Programming, and Licensing and Home Entertainment.
Earlier, Day had served as COO Commerce operation. There she was responsible for DiscoveryStore.com ecommerce unit. Prior to joining Discovery in 2005, Day was Vice President of e-commerce at 'The Knot', a wedding media company. She spent the previous seven years at AOL in a variety of digital media/commerce positions, including a stint with AOL Shopping, where she developed new products for its portal site.
Speaking on this occasion, Campbell said that, Kelly has proven herself to be a strong operational leader and has built a robust commerce offering that extends the Discovery brand beyond the television screen. With her broad understanding of technology and consumer behavior, she was the ideal candidate to deepen the level of engagement across all of their digital platforms, he added.
