Dinara Safina has withdrawn from the Dubai tennis championships due to back injury. The world number two declared her pull out from the tournament on Monday.
Safina stated in her official website, “Unfortunately, I will not be able to play this year because of the back injury that's been bothering me since the end of last season.”
Safina had retired in the fourth round game against Maria Kirilenko in Australian open last month and since then not played.
The 23-year-old hopes to make her tennis return soon and expects to play at the USD 4.5-million Indian Wells tournament in the United States commencing on March 10.
