According to sources, popular social-bookmarking and Web aggregation site Digg is to develop its own iPhone App for its users. It was announced recently by Kevin Rose, co-founder of the site in the Future of Web Apps conference.

It was disclosed in an informal meeting with his friends.

When asked about the new product, Rose said, "You're not even supposed to know about that.”

Previously, Dig had announced the iPhone in 2007 during Apple’s news conference. According to the company sources, the new application has gone through several coding enhancements to give a better product to its users.

This mobile version of the site has so many features like iPhone scrolling, mini-permalink pages with as many as top five comments as well as digging facility as usual.

Critics say that, though it will be useful to submit a link but it’s not clear how the Digg App browser would support the background applications, as Apple locks out the background applications. For it, there may be a built-in mini-browser to view the contents submitted and then voting for the content.
