According to a research, taking two or more diet sodas per day can increase health risks in women. Those people are likely to face decreased kidney activities over the period.

The researchers studied 3,256 women, who were an average age of 67 years. They took the data from two groups. The first group was given sugar-sweetened beverages whereas the second group was given artificially-sweetened-based beverages. Then the scientists took all the information related to the kidney function.

The researchers found that many of the participants’ kidneys responded well initially but the function of the kidneys lowered down gradually. It also showed that up to 30% of women had decreased kidney activity.

Now, it was concluded that the decline in the kidney activity was due to the intake of two or more artificial sodas. The research also showed that the percentage of activity doubled with the intake of sodas for a long period.

Lead researcher,Dr. Lin said, ''With natural aging, kidney function declines about 1 mL [milliliter] per minute per year after age 40. We didn't see any association up to two artificially sweetened beverages a day.”
