German model/actress Diane Kruger has claimed that she gave up modelling because the fashion magazines set impossibly high standards of beauty for ordinary women.

The actress who starred in ‘Inglourious Basterds’ always wanted to become an actress which led her to leave her modelling career.

Recently, the ‘National Treasure’ admitted that she quickly became disenchanted with the modelling industry because according to her the glossy, airbrushed girls in the magazines are not a realistic reflection of female beauty.

"I’ve got to tell you, the reason I stopped modelling was because I wasn’t pleased with trying to portray something that is impossible to reach”, Diane Kruger said.

The actress added, "Even when I do photoshoots now for films, I’m just not interested in trying to look my best all the time anymore. That pursuit of an impossible perfection seems ridiculous to me now. I’d rather show my vulnerabilities or my doubts than try to be something that no one is”.
