Kalpreet Kau Aulakh, who is a 16-year-old teenager of Indian origin, has been chosen for the Diana Award in recognition of her ‘voluntary and selfless work’ within the community of Leicester. Leicester, a British town, houses substantial number of Indians. It is Manjula Sood, the Lord Mayor of Leicester with an Indian origin, who will present Kalpreet Kau Aulakh the Diana Award.

 

This award seeks to provide recognition to the time, effort and voluntary work undertaken by the Indian teenager for her community. The work undertaken by Kalpreet Kau Aulakh includes her voluntary service at the LOROS charity shop and involvement in a youth project seeking to underscore the importance of human values to youngsters as well as emphasis on embracing them in their lives.

 

Apart from this, Kalpreet Kau Aulakh has also taken part in fundraising programmes for youth group 'the Good Values Club' and charity 'Wishes 4 Kids'. Other than this, the Indian teenager has also served food at the local community hall and organized social functions. The awards being presented to Kalpreet Kau Aulakh is named after Princess Diana and it provides recognition to young people aged between 12 to 18 years for their selfless contribution to the community.
