Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni on Monday gave a clean chit to the security measures for the third edition of Indian Premier League. Dhoni who spearheads the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL extravaganza starting on March 12 said,"The security is just perfect and I feel players shouldn't be worried about their safety in India.”
Dhoni, who is currently in Chennai for a weeklong training camp with the Super Kings, specified that it was responsibility of all franchise owners to ensure security measures for players' protection.
The skipper's statement also comes as an assurance in the wake of concern raised by foreign IPL players following Pune terror bombing last month.
Assessing the Super Kings team, Dhoni was optimistic of winning the trophy after near-misses in the previous two editions when the Chennai side finished runners-up in the inaugural season (2008) and were semi-finalists last year when the tournament was held in South Africa.
Dhoni said that their winning chances rely on their strong batting order headed by the likes of Australian stars Matthew Hayden and Michael Hussey besides new South African recruit Justin Kemp and the likes of Suresh Raina.
Dhoni welcomed the rule of limiting the number of foreign players to four in the playing eleven. He said, "After all, this (the IPL) is an Indian competition and the focus should be on Indian players. The restriction on the foreign players is just perfect.”
