Dell Inc, a major PC manufacturer, has mentioned that it will enter the US mobile phone market with an Android-based Smart phone, which will be made available over the AT&T's carrier network.
Dell is the latest addition to the list of the tech makers who are trying to leave a mark in the smart phone segment, which has major established players like Apple and Research in Motion. Dell’s proposal will be an advantage to the Google’s developing mobile platform, which is currently battling the mobile platforms from Microsoft and Apple.
According to a source, who is aware to the proposal, mentions that Dell has plans for rolling out the US version of the ‘oPhone’, which it has introduced in China. ‘oPhone’ uses the Android OS of Google and has received the AT&T certification to be used in the domestic network.
The Wall Street Journal, which has come up with the news on Wednesday, has cited people briefing on the same, mentioning that Dell's phone would hit the stores by early 2010.
