Seeing the increasing preference of commuters to travel via metro trains, the Delhi Metro has decided to soon introduce 131 new trains to make traveling within the city an easier task. Apart from addressing the problem of increasing rush in the Metro, the new trains will also have power connections so that passengers can use their computer notebooks and recharge their cell phones.
Officials confirmed that every new Metro coach of Phase-II will have power supply points for this purpose. Further on, an official from Delhi Metro informed that the new Metro coaches will be made such that they help reduce noise volume within. ‘The DMRC is making major design changes to reduce noise levels by use of special sound absorbing cushions in the walls of the Metro coaches and more buffing on the Metro doors,’ the official said.
Effort is also being made to enhance comfort level of Metro commuters as for the very first time there will be facility for humidity control in the new trains. While the temperature will be maintained at 25 degree Celsius, the relative humidity will be maintained at 60 per cent during summer and monsoon months. Moreover there will be CCTVs installed within the coaches and outside so that driver can see passengers entering and leaving the train.
