Russian tennis player, Davydenko defeated second seed Rafael Nadal at the Sony Ericsson open in Miami.

Second seed, Rafael Nadal lost to Russian fourth seed Nikolay Davydenko who won the Miami title for Sony Ericsson open. The Spanish tennis player lost to Davydenko in straight sets 6-4, 6-2. Davydenko became the first Russian to win the Miami title in the 24 year long history of the Sony Ericsson open. Never did the Russian player allowed Nadal to bounce back in the 1 hour 22 minutes long game. The Russian fourth seed was visibly happy as he stated that he had never played well in Miami before. 

Nadal, after the game stated that Davydenko played unbelievable tennis on the court and there wasn’t anything he could do to defend himself. Davydenko defeated crowd favorite Andy Roddick in the semi-finals to finally take over world number two Rafael Nadal. Meanwhile Nadal has not yet been able to get a single title win this year. Davydenko on the other hand got his first title win for the year by upsetting Nadal in straight sets at Miami.
