David Beckham will join AC Milan in January on loan deal from Los Angeles Galaxy. This was announced by the Italian club on Monday. A club website statement said that the 34-year-old England midfielder will play for Milan from January to June.
Beckham, who has served a loan term last season, wants to play in Europe to try to keep his place in the England squad for the World Cup commencing on 11th June in South Africa.
Milan chief executive Adriano Galliani in his statement said, “We are very happy to re-see David Beckham in the red and black shirt after the splendid experience of last season.”
"We are sure that this period in Europe will help the player to take part in the next World Cup and then to continue his career at Los Angeles Galaxy, whom we thank for their help."
His second loan stint was in the pipeline from several months .Media reports claimed that some English Premier League clubs were also interested in Beckham but the star has always expressed Milan as his first choice.
Beckham has helped Galaxy to win their MLS division and qualify for the playoffs this month. Galaxy officials also made it clear that as long as Beckham again returned to the U.S to complete his deal until 2012; they would assist him in finding another loan to Europe if it meant he could fulfil his World Cup ambition.
Milan chief executive Adriano Galliani also revealed that Ghana Under-20 striker Dominic Adiyiah will join Beckham in the club in January.
