The wireless web access products and services provider company, Datawind Ltd has launched PocketSurfer2 in India. PocketSurfer2 is an ultra-thin hand-held device that can enable a user to surf the Internet on the move. The device weighing only 174 grams allows the users to access 12 web pages at the same time and open additional links on a single page simultaneously.
With PocketSurfer2, one can browse the Web in its original layout using a mouse cursor and a full backlit QWERTY keyboard. The device is designed to make the users to feel the experience of desktop PC. Having no wires and enhancements, the device is sure to attract the consumers seeking for a mobile Internet solution. The device can connect itself to mobile network with the help of built-in GPRS antenna and SIM card incorporated within it.
The interesting fact about PocketSurfer2 is that the users do not have to make a contract or pay any monthly charges to access the Internet. The company claimed that PocketSurfer2 will perform faster than most handheld devices running on third generation (3G) mobile networks. The PocketSurfer2 will be available at a cost of Rs.11,990. In India HCL Infosystems will distribute the product.
The Internet provider device from Datawind has a rechargeable Lithium polymer battery which provides 4 hours active usage and 4 days standby. It has a mini-USB charging port. The smart device can load web pages in under 7 seconds. PocketSurfer2 offers an array of online services like emailing and social networking, information and entertainment, mapping etc. Measuring 152 x 75 x 15 mm, PocketSurfer2 fits easily into a pocket or bag.
