Leading technology magazine Dataquest has declared the capital of India, Delhi as the best e-governed state in the country. In an event held at New Delhi, Chief Information Commissioner Wajahat Habibullah has given away the award for the best e-governed state to Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit. While naming the state for the e-governance award, the magazine informed that Delhi gives special attention for the betterment of its citizens.
The national capital spends about Rs.10, 982 for every citizen on building its IT infrastructure and maintaining citizen-centric IT applications. According to a survey conducted by Dataquest, Delhi claimed nine out of 14 points to become the best e-governed state. The magazine also stress that citizens of Delhi expressed their utmost satisfaction at e-governance initiatives taken until now.
The technology magazine also honored Lakshmi Narayanan of Cognizant Technology Solutions as IT person of the year. Sanjeev Bhikchandani of Naukri.com received the award for best path-breaker of the year while D.B. Pathak of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)-Mumbai bagged the lifetime achievement award.
