The spiritual leader of the Tibetans, Dalai Lama has been admitted to a hospital in Mumbai after he complained of stomach pains. On Wednesday, 27 August, the 73 year-old exiled Tibetan leader cancelled all his foreign trips citing exhaustion. A source said there was no cause for concern even though the actual problem has not yet been detected.

The Tibetan spiritual leader has been residing at Dharamshala in India after escaping Tibet in 1959 due to an abortive uprising. 'There is nothing major to feel concerned about. But he has been admitted to the Lilivati Hospital in Mumbai because he was feeling some discomfort in his abdomen,' said Tenzin Taklha, Dalai Lama's spokesperson.

He then informed that doctors will examine the Dalai Lama on Friday. A source from the hospital stated that the reverent leader has had his six-monthly check up a month back and he was declared fit. Tenzin Taklha said that for few more days Dalai Lama will stay at the Mumbai hospital after which he will return to Dharamshala.
