The director of the movie ‘Dabangg’ has come up with the most funny, unique and whimsical names of the characters in the movie. Right from the name of the protagonist, Salman Khan, the others names are surely catchy.

‘Dabangg’ is due for an ‘Eid’ release and it stars superstar Salman Khan and debutante actress Sonakshi Sinha, daughter of yesteryears actor Shatrughan Sinha. The names in the movie are inspired from the names of the director’s relatives and the very local ones from UP.

‘Chulbul Pandey’ is the name of Salman Khan in the movie, who is a corrupt cop and functions illegal activities in the areas of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. The director of the movie, Abhinav Kashyap says that the name is inspired from his nephew’s name.

He adds, “Pandey or Panday is a common surname in UP and I have a nephew whose nickname is Chulbul. I borrowed it because Salman’s character in the film has a chulbula (naughty) side to him. We’ve had enough of Rajs, Vijays and Vikrams. And the name has caught on.”

While a statement from the almost lost face of the industry, Chunky Pandey came as a surprise to the director. Chunky Pandey has reportedly asked for a royalty as he thinks that his name initials are taken for naming the character, Chulbul Pandey in the movie.

But, the director quickly quips, “I have 20 odd Pandey friends who I will send to Chunky for royalty, retorts director Abhinav Kashyap.”

Arbaaz Khan, the producer of the movie also plays the role of Salman’s step brother in it and his name is ‘Makhi’ for ‘Makhanchand’ in the movie. Meanwhile, the director adds on this, “I heard it somewhere and it stuck in my mind.”

Sonu Sood has been named as ‘Cheedi Singh’ in the movie and there are many more names which are unique and whimsical. Even the dialogues in the movie are too straight and typically North Indian.

The director of the movie also says that the movie is unique to itself and as the meaning of the title means ‘Fearless’, so it should not be taken as ‘Veer’ part 2.

Abhinav adds, “Fearless but now don’t go thinking it is Veer 2. Up North, it’s a common word that means someone who is not scared of anyone. And Salman is like that in real life too so he fit the role perfectly.”
