Bangladesh is likely to face a devastating cyclone named Khai Muk. Report says that the cyclone is building over the Bay of Bengal. The cyclone is likely to intensify further and move in a northwesterly direction. It is supposed to cross Andhra Pradesh coast near Machilipatnam by noon. According to reports, at about 3 in the morning the cyclone was positioned about 1,265 km southwest of Chittagong Port, 1,210 km southwest of Cox’s Bazaar Port and 1,100 km southwest of Mongla Port.
 
According to Met department, cyclone Khai Muk might hit the Bangladeshi ports of Chittagong, Cox’s Bazaar and Mongla with a miximum speed of 80 kmph. The ports are advised to declare distant warnings. Apart from it, the fisherman community operating over north Bay is advised to take precautions and fish near the coastal areas. The news agency of Bangladesh has warned the fishermen to refrain from deep water fishing. 

Bangladesh was badly hit by Cyclone Sidr at the same time last year. That worst natural calamity devastated the southern parts of Bangladesh killing more than 4,000 people and ruining crops, homes and fish over half a million hectares. Over the past couple of centuries, Bangladesh is reported to have faced about 80 serious cyclones.
