In a shocking incident in Nandigram, two women have filed an FIR against Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) DIG Alok Raj, alleging that they were molested by him late on Saturday night. The women belonging to Sonachura village of Nandigram filed the FIR on Sunday, May 11, 2008. The DIG CRPF however claimed that these are false allegations.

Debasish Chakraborty, Officer-in-charge of the Nandigram police station confirmed that the women have lodged complaints that they were beaten up and molested by Alok Raj during a raid. The DIG has claimed that he was not informed about the FIR by the police. He also said that he was busy at a meeting on Saturday night and did not leave the CRPF camp.

The CRPF DIG has also stressed that these charges are meant to deter him from performing his duty in Nandigram. He none the less claimed that he will continue to perform his duties in the region despite the ‘so called’ false allegations.
