Narayan Rane, senior Congress leader from Maharashtra, who was suspended earlier, is likely to be taken back into the party fold soon. Sources said that, revocation of his suspension order is under consideration. He was suspended from the party following his outburst against senior leaders of the party in last December.
Reconsideration of suspension order came after Rane had offered his apologies to AICC in-charge of the state A K Antony and Congress president Sonia Gandhi's political secretary Ahmed Patel in New Delhi. He had apologized to the Congress leadership in last week.
Congress Party sources said that, the party president Sonia Gandhi is inclined to give Rane another chance. The sources also said that, Rane had offered unconditional apology and had not made any demands. However, the former state Revenue Minister is likely to be accommodated in the state Cabinet, sources further added.
Rane has also the backing of Chief Minister Ashok Chavan. Chavan is learnt to have requested Sonia Gandhi to revoke Rane's suspension because of his political influence in Konkan region. Interestingly in last December, it was Chavan's elevation as CM that had prompted Rane to declare a rebellion against the party.
