The Congress- Nationalist Congress Party meeting, which was held in Mumbai on late Tuesday night for three long hours, for discussing the seat-sharing formula in the forthcoming Maharashtra assembly elections, remained indecisive.
According to sources, yet another meeting has been scheduled to take place on Wednesday. The meeting, which had been the first round of discussions between Congress and NCP, was held at the residence of Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Ashok Chavan.
Congress chief Manikrao Thakre had met Congress general secretary in-charge of Maharashtra, A. K. Antony, for discussing the terms for the talks with NCP.
Sources from NCP have proclaimed that NCP and Congress will be contesting the Oct 13 polls in a joint manner. The Congress-NCP alliance Democratic Front is ruling Maharashtra since 1999 and expects to re-create the magic this time also.
Several Congress leaders, including Heavy Industries Minister and former chief minister Vilasrao Deshmukh have put forward the proposal that Congress should not join hands with NCP in the Maharashtra elections.
