Early trends show Congress leading in Rajasthan against BJP. However, BJP is reported to be enjoying upper hand in the state of Madhya Pradesh. On the other hand, both Congress and BJP are in neck-and-neck tussle in Delhi. Counting of votes for the recently held assembly elections in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, Chhattisgarh and Mizoram began on Monday (December 8). According to reports, Mizoram is favouring the Congress party as the party gained early lead in the state.
The assembly elections are seen as semi-finals before the before the Lok Sabha polls. The fates of both Congress and BJP in many of the states will be decided today as the final results are expected to come out by the evening. Strong leaders like Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Bharatiya Janashakti chief Uma Bharti will soon come to know the verdict of the people of Madhya Pradesh. The state witnessed 60 per cent turnout during elections to the 230-member Assembly.
Poll results will also decide whether BJP will retain the power in Chhattisgarh or not. Rajasthan voters seem to be annoyed with Vasundhara Raje as she faces tough challenge to retain power in the state. The assembly election for 40-member House in Mizoram was held on November 29 where initial counting results show good signs for Congress party.
