According to a new study on hacking, the experts have warned that the hackers have the potential for scouting the activities of people on the web by suing power sockets.

According to the researchers Andrea Barisani and Daniele Bianco, of Inverse Path, the poor shielding of the keyboard cables give the freedom for the hackers for identifying the characters that are typed on the computer on a one-to-one basis.

The information which is passed through the cables that connect the keyboards of the desktop PCs will be leaked onto the power circuits.

"Our goal is to show that information leaks in the most unexpected ways and can be retrieved," said the researchers.

The research was focused on cables that were used for connecting PS/2 keyboard to desktop PCs.

It was found out that the 6 wires that were inside the PS/2 cable were typically "close to each other and poorly shielded". This provides for the information travelling through the data wire, as a key is pressed. This then leaks to the earth wire in the same cable.

The study added that picking up the changes in voltage that identify the keystroke was easier because the data moves via the PS/2 cables in the fashion of one bit at a time.
