The drama associated with the highly popular television reality show Bigg Boss II has spilled out from reel to real life. On Tuesday, August 19, hundreds of Republican Party of India (RPI) workers ransacked the office of Colours television channel in Mumbai because their leader Ramdas Athavale had been dropped from the show.

The supporters of Ramdas Athavale forced their way into the Colours TV channels office, broke window panes and damaged furnitures in protest.  The RPI workers alleged that their leader had been dropped from Bigg Boss as he belonged to the Scheduled Caste. They also burned effigy of actress Shilpa Shetty, who is hosting Bigg Boss Season 2.

Shetty had won Britain's version of the show last year. Vivek Pawar, the RPI's Mumbai district president, said that the concerned TV channel had called Athavale on August 16 and then abruptly dropped him from the reality show without any rhyme or reason. Two people have been arrested on charges of rioting.
