Entertainment based TV channel, Colors has overtaken rival Star Plus to become the top general entertainment channel (GEC). Colors recorded 292 gross ratings points (GRP) to stand at No 1, while Star Plus stood second with 267 GRP in the week ended April 11 according to TAM media research. This study was conducted by TAM media research covering viewers C&S 4+ (over the age of four in cable and satellite homes) in Hindi-speaking markets. GRP is a standard industry measure of viewership.

 

However, Star Plus shows still remain the most watched, occupying the top two slots. Bidaai continues to be the most-watched with 7.4 TVR (Television Viewer Ratings). Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai comes in second with 7.0 TVR. Colors' Ballika Vadhu is third with 5.95 TVR. In the list of top 10 programmes, Colors has four shows, while Star Plus and Zee TV have three each.

 

Meanwhile, Zee TV maintained its third place with 236 GRP. NDTV Imagine is at 4th place with 90 GRP. At No 5 is Sony Entertainment with 78 GRP. In reality, the ratings for Colors have in fact dipped from 298 GRP last week to 292 this week. Star Plus saw its ratings fall from 307 GRP to 267.
