Churchill Brothers, the I-League Champions, have booked their berth in the Durand Cup Final for the third consecutive time with a marvellous win of 2-1 over the Dempo Sports Club at the all-Goan semi final played at Ambedkar Stadium in New Delhi on Saturday.
Charan Rai (20th) and star Nigerian forward Odafe Onyeka Okolie (50th) had been the major focus of the new IIFA Sheild winners whereas Brazilian Beto diminished the margin with just 2 minutes with his free-kick.
Churchill will face the winner of the Mohun Bagan and Mahindra United for the title clash.
Even though Demo had been ruling the first half of the game, with forwards Sunil Chettri and Ranty Martins lacking the penetration skill for demolishing the defense of Churchill brothers, they failed to showcase a good game.
Anthony Pereira, on the right flank, displayed a wonderful game for Dempo with Beto but the duo failed to co-ordinate with Chettri and Martins.
Despite making a shaky start, Churchill were lucky to get the lead after Rai slotted in from a scramble to stun the three-time national league winners Dempo.
