Telugu actor and Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) president K. Chiranjeevi won Tirupati assembly seat in Chittoor district but experienced defeat in Palacole constituency. He lost the Palacole seat to B. Usha Rani of the Congress by over 5,000 votes. On the other hand, he was elected from Tirupati after beating Karunakar Reddy of the Congress by over 10,800 votes.

K. Chiranjeevi popularly known as Chiru launched his party PRP in Tripati in August last year. As per latest trends, Chiranjeevi's party is ahead in only 18 assembly constituencies in Andhra Pradesh. Meanwhile another report confirmed that Chiranjeevi's brother-in-law and famous film producer Allu Aravind has experienced defeat elections in Ankapalli Lok Sabha constituency. Allu Aravind is also the general secretary of PRP.

Before the Lok Sabha and assembly elections in Andhra, there were massive hypes for Chiranjeevi's party but the recent election results updates are not favoring the party. It is reported that another PRP leader T Devender Goud has also failed to win elections. Devender Goud lost the elections both from Malkajgiri Lok Sabha and Ibrahimpatnam assembly constituencies.  Goud was earlier tied with Telugu Desam Party but last year he left TDP and formed Nava Telangana Party to fight for separate statehood to Telangana region. Before the elections, he merged his party with PRP.
