Actor-turned politician K Chiranjeevi has decided to quit from the Assembly owing to the building pressures from his party leaders in coastal Andhra and Rayalseema regions.
Chiranjeevi has decided to stand for the “united Andhra” and is thus differing from his Praja Rajyam Party’s (PRP) decision. As per PRP leader K Vidyadhar Rao, Chiranjeevi will submit his resignation today and will join to protest against the formation of Telangana state.
Chiranjeevi representing Tirupati Assembly constituency in Rayalaseema region had always supported the division of the state ever since his party was launched at Tirupati last year. But of late, he decided to join for the "samaikya Andhra" motion.
Three presidents of the district units of the party in Telangana resigned in protest of Chiranjeevi’s decision. Both the legislators of the party belonging to Telangana have also threatened to quit.
