A team of Chinese security officials will be arriving in Delhi on Monday to inspect the route of the Olympic torch run, which is to take place on April 17. Top Indian officials will take them for a security survey of the route. The Olympic torch is expected to reach Delhi on Thursday afternoon, just hours before the actual relay is to take place. The biggest security fear in the run is the repeat of London and Paris event where free Tibet activists breached the security. India is home to lakhs of Tibetan refugees, out of which hundreds have already begun arriving in Delhi for the protests.
Senior officials of the Home Ministry also held an elaborate meeting on Monday to review the security arrangements that have been made for the relay. This meeting was held after China's envoy Zhand Yan met Home Minister Shivraj Patil a week back. The meeting was chaired by Home Secretary Madhukar Gupta and it was attended by Delhi's Police Commissioner Y.S.Dadhwal, officials of the Delhi Government and representatives of the Olympic Association.
The Olympic torch run has also been shortened considerably to just 2.3kms, down Rajpath, a highly secured zone of Delhi.
