It was a great moment for China when its young chaps, Qin Kai and Wang Feng, claimed the gold medal in the Men's Synchronized 3m Springboard with a score of 469.08. The host nation has succeeded in all the four Synchronized Diving events of the Beijing Olympics to date. Dmitry Sautin and Yuriy Kunakov of Russia won the silver, while Illya Kvasha and Oleksiy Prygorov of Ukraine earned the bronze in the event.

The dominance of Qin and Wang was apparent from start to finish; they ranked first in each of their six dives, counting a vigorous 94.50-point final dive which placed them ahead of Russia by 50 points. The Russian duo rose above an eighth-ranked fifth dive with a rock-hard score on their final dive to seal with silver. The Ukraine pair was temporarily placed in second place after their 84-point fifth dive, however, finally left with an extra of 4.32 points to win bronze.
