China has criticized a newly proposed US resolution on the Tibet issue as being partial and has asked American lawmakers not to meddle in its business. A Chinese foreign ministry statement posted on its website said that the US resolution did not pay any attention to the ‘criminal acts’ that was allegedly being masterminded by the exiled Tibetan spiritual leader, Dalai Lama.
As such, the statement suggested that the US Congress respect facts, discard one-sidedness and clearly see the real face of the Dalai Lama clique. It further read that a small number of US congressmen have raised this resolution and have refused to condemn the smashing, looting and burning riots in Lhasa. The statement issued by the Chinese government said that it hoped the United States Congress would just halt pushing resolutions on Tibet.
It said it would otherwise not only hurt feelings of the Chinese, but also hamper Sino-US relationship. The US resolution on Tibet calls on Beijing to terminate its crackdown on peaceful protests in Tibet. It also advises to initiate dialogue with Dalai Lama to address the complaints of the Tibetans. China, on the other hand, has accused His Holiness the Dalai Lama of being responsible for this big unrest in Tibet.
