Ahead of the talks between the representatives of the Dalai Lama and the Chinese officials, China has started a fresh array of criticism against the Tibetan spiritual leader. China accused Dalai Lama of playing a key role in the anti Chinese protests in Tibet. The criticisms can well hamper the talks which aim to bring peace in Tibet. The talk between the Chinese officials and the envoys of Dalai Lama is scheduled to take place on Sunday May 4, 2008.
It is to be noted that the talks would be the first one since violence broke out in Tibet early this March. There have been world wide protests against the Chinese policies in Tibet and the Olympic Torch relay has also been interrupted in several parts of the world. The world has asked China to open dialouges with the Dalai Lama to end the crisis in the Himalayan region. There have been six rounds of talks between the Chinese government and the representatives of the Dalai Lama but they have not been fruitful.
Meanwhile a statement from the Dalai Lama's office in India said that the talks will provide suggestions to restore peace in the region. China has given no official comments about the talks. A spokesperson for the Dalai Lama said that the representatives have arrived in Hong Kong and the meeting is scheduled to take place in Shenzhen.
