Chiara Cainero of Italy dared to dream big and finally realized her dream of winning the gold medal in the Women’s Skeet at the Beijing Olympics. After being tied on 93 hits with US’ Kimberly Rhode and Germany’s Christine Brinker in the finals, Cainero came out victorious from the jumble. In the final, the three shooters were tied after the 21st shot when Cainero missed the target and offered the other two shooters a prospect to get closer. All of the three champions hit their final four targets to force a shoot-off.
Both Brinker and Rhode failed to hit their second shoot-off target, thus the gold went to Cainero who hit both the targets successfully. Rhode hit her next two targets to grab the silver medal. At last, the German shooter was left with the bronze medal. Nathalie Larsson of Sweden and Sutiya Jiewchaloemmit of Thailand were placed fourth and fifth respectively. Wei Ning of China, who took the silver medal at Athens Olympics 2004, concluded last with 91 hits.
