After David Beckham and Taylor Swift, the new celebrities to be turned to comic book stars are Cheryl Cole and footballer Wayne Rooney.

The Girls Aloud singer will be immortalised in print and will feature as the new singing sidekick of protagonist Minnie the Minx in popular comic book ‘The Beano’.

The idea of turning the singer into comic star struck Dundee-based publishers D.C. Thomson after Cole was seen sporting a red and black striped outfit, designed by the late Alexander McQueen, in her video ‘Fight For This Love’.

A spokesperson of Beano quoted, "Minnie the Minx will be meeting Cheryl and Rooney in a run of stories that will coincide with the school summer holidays.”

"They are both hugely popular with readers and I’m sure fans will be thrilled at the prospect of them coming face to face with a national institution, in the shape of Minnie," the spokesman added.
