British singer Cheryl Cole has been named the television personality of the year in Glamour magazine's Women of the Year awards. The 25-year-old singer was named the best-dressed woman by Tatler and sexiest woman in the world by FHM in recent months. The band of the year award was bagged by Girls Aloud, which also includes Cheryl Cole as one of the members. Former EastEnders star Michelle Ryan walked away with the UK actress of the year award.
Apart from them, Adele was named UK solo artist of the year while R&B singer Katy Perry grabbed the newcomer of the year award. Kylie Minogue was named the woman of the year and entrepreneur of the year. Olympic gold medallists Victoria Pendleton, Sarah Storey and Sarah Webb Pippa Wilson won the prize for sportswomen of the year.
Apart from being a member of Girls Aloud band, Cheryl was one of the judges of the British reality TV show 'The X-Factor'. Cheryl Cole is married to the Chelsea and England football player Ashley Cole. The awards are given according to the ratings of magazine's readers. Each year Glamour magazine institute the awards to recognise the achievements of women in film, television and music, theatre, business and literature.
