Chennai Super Kings defeated Mumbai Indians on Wednesday night by 6 runs. With this win, the chennai Super Kings have made their title claim stronger over their other rivals.
Sachin Tendulkar once again disappointed his fans as fitness problem kept him out of the team for yet another tie. With this loss Mumbai Indians will have very tough time ahead in IPL. For Mumbai Indians, Abhishek Nayar topscored with 45 runs of 20 balls, which included 6 fours and a six. Nayar threatened to take away the match from Chennai Super Kings but there was'nt any batsman left to support him at the end. Besides Abhishek Nayar, Robin Uthappa was the only other Mumbai Indians batsman to make a mark by scoring 43 runs of 36 balls.
Earlier, Mumbai Indians won the toss and chose to field. Riding on great batting performances by Matthew Hayden and Suresh Raina, Chennai super kings piled up a challenging total of 208 for 5. Both Raina and Hayden put 104 runs for the third wicket and ensured 200 plus score for the Chennai outfit. Hayden, in particular, was merciless and plundered 12 fours and 2 sixes to reach 81. He was ably supported by Suresh Raina, who also made a quick fire 53 of 37 balls, which included 3 sixes and 3 fours. For Mumbai Indians, Musavir Khote was the most successful bowler claiming two wickets for 29 runs.
