Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings trashed Rajasthan Royals by 38 runs in an IPL match held at Centurion on Thursday (April 30). This is for the first time that Super Kings has won a match against Rajasthan Royals. After winning the toss, Royals skipper Shane Warne elected to field first. The dismissal of Matthew Hayden (1) at a very early stage of the match brought Suresh Raina at the crease, after that there was no looking back for the Super Kings.
Raina scored 98 runs from 55 balls, hitting 10 fours and 5 sixes. Raina's blistering batting enabled Super Kings to amass a total of 164-5. Chasing the challenging target, the defending IPL champions, Rajasthan Royals were bundled out for 126 in 19.3 overs. Lakshmipathy Balaji from Super Kings picked up four wickets by conceding only 21 runs in 4 overs. Apart from young Ravindra Jadeja (37 off 33 balls), no other batsman from Royals could counter the attacks of Chennai bowlers.
Both teams now have five points from six matches. While Chennai Super Kings will now face Delhi Devils at Johannesburg, Rajasthan Royals will play against Deccan Charges at Port Elizabeth. Both the matches will be played on Saturday (May 2).
