Chennai Super Kings beat Kolkata Knight Riders by 9 wickets to win their third consecutive match in the IPL. Batting first, the Knight Riders scored 147 runs in the allotted 20 overs. Chennai put up an impressive bowling performance and kept taking wickets at regular intervals which slowed the progress of the Knight Riders. For Chennai, Jacob Oram claimed 3 wickets for 32 runs. M Gony and Amarnath picked up 2 wickets each whereas Joginder Sharma chipped in with 1 wicket. Laxmi Ratan Shukla top scored for the Knight Riders with 42 runs which included 4 boundaries and a six.
 
Without the pressure of a huge target, Chennai replied in a positive manner putting up 66 runs for the first wicket. Hayden played an unbeaten knock of 70 runs in just 49 balls which included 6 fours and 3 sixes. He was well supported at the other end by Parthiv Patel (21 runs) and MS Dhoni who also remained unbeaten on 43 runs. Agarkar picked up the sole wicket for Kolkata Knight Riders. With this win Chennai are now placed on top of the table while Kolkata has slipped down to the fourth spot.
