According to some reports the RC Bhargava committee which was appointed by the GOI to study and analyze the overall functioning of the IIMs, most probably will not recommend for any change in fee structure. Bhargava so far has visited all IIMs and has finalized its report on the structure of administrative system, and total work ambience.

Interestingly, IIMs recently hiked their fees, particularly, IIM-A increased the same at 175% for PGP from Rs 2 lakh to Rs 5.5 lakh. Now, what the recommendations are going to do is yet to be seen. However, according to Bhargava the basic thrust of the committee is to study and suggest the roadmap on how to create excellence and expand management education.

Accordingly, he said that committee is of the view that fees should be finalized by the boards of each IIM. He sarcastically commented that then what is the use of board if committee is going to decide on the fee structure of IIMs. He concluded that the IIMs are imparting the required training to the people no doubt, but committee is going to examine if they need expansion of activities & broaden their role to enhance the human capital.
