Looks like the impending Chandigarh International Film Festival is going to be one gala event! To be held from February 5, 2009 onwards, this four-day event will see the presence of big-shot directors from the film industry such as Dev Anand, Deepa Mehta, Tanuja Chandra and Gurinder Chadha.

Sources have revealed that the theme of the festival in Chandigarh this time will be contribution of women to different aspects of film-making like direction, acting, writing, music, choreographing and designing. The source said that well-known female film directors like N. Chandra, Meghna Gulzar and Nandita Das will be gracing the event.

'Keeping the theme of the festival in mind, we will showcase films of women directors and it will be the special feature of the festival,' the source said. It was further reported that the films will get screened at a number of venues across the city like the Tagore Theatre in Sector 18, Government Museum and Art Gallery in Sector 10. The CIFF is being organized by Chandigarh's tourism department in alliance with Society for Tourism and Entertainment Promotion (STEP).
