Even though the Delhi HC verdict on the decriminalization of homosexuality has received negative opinions, the Centre has decided to go along with the Delhi High Court.
According to reports, this decision for approving the Delhi HC verdict was taken by Home, Health and Law ministries in a joint manner.
The Delhi High Court had passed a verdict on July 2, 2009, according to which gay sex was not a criminal offence. It had even scrapped Section 377 of the IPC so that consensual sex between two adults of the same sex can be permitted.
The note prepared by the three ministries is expected to be placed before the union cabinet on Thursday for approval and forward it to the Supreme Court before its final judgement on the issue.
After the ruling of the Delhi HC, the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had asked all three ministries - Home, Law and Health to sit together and resolve the issue.
