The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has now taken up the high profile murder case of British teenager Scarlett Keeling, nearly four months after her murder. About four months ago, Scarlett’s body was found from Goa’s Anjuna beach in February. Official sources have revealed that the CBI had registered a case into the murder of the British teenager in May only, following a request for the same by the Goa state government.

A CBI official revealed that they have re-registered the initial FIR done in Goa and investigations are currently on. It was the family of Scarlett that has demanded an investigation by the CBI as they claimed that the local police was trying to save a very powerful person.

The police had initially termed it a case of drowning, it was later forced to register a case of murder and rape after the victim’s mother Fiona MacKeown alleged foul play. The shoddy police probe has come under lot of criticism and has even led to the sacking of the investigating officer Inspector Nerlon Albuquerque, by the state government.
