Hollywood actress and Oscar winner Cate Blancheet will be seen portraying the character of Lady Edwina Mountbatten in the forthcoming Hollywood film, ‘Indian Summer’. This movie is based in the final days of the British Raj in India.
The movie, which is scheduled to hit the silver screens in 2011, will be produced by Universal Pictures. ‘Indian Summer’, which will have the script from William Nicholson, will have Joe Wright holding the reins. This film will depict the transfer of power by Lord Mountbatten to the first Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, during 1947 summer.
The movie, which is an adaptation of the book, ‘Indian Summer: The Secret History of the End of an Empire’ written by Alex von Tunzelmann, will be showcasing the vital events which led to the independence of India.
The shooting of the movie is scheduled to start from next year.
