France’s leading political journal Marianne in an article has branded French First Lady Carla Bruni as the modern day May Antoinette. According to the political journal, the country is sick and tired of the 40 year old supermodel’s preening and showing off for the world’s media. This has tremendously increased over the past few weeks as the former model turned pop star prepares to release her third album of songs. The first lady has been giving intimate interviews as well as getting her nude pictures released by Christie’s auction house.

The political journal notes that such foolish demeanor have made her look distinctly similar to Marie Antoinette, the ill fated wife of King Louis XVI, who was beheaded during the French Revolution. The author of the article in Marianne, Nicolas Domenach noted that just like Antoinette, Bruni considers herself to be one of the most beautiful women of Europe.  The people of France the author further asserted are getting tired of hearing from the President Sarkozy on every possible occasion that she is beautiful, clever and sings so well. Domenach further noted that the couple keeps on pawing at each other in public that might be normal for newly weds but they are not exactly young and also happen to be the President and the First lady.
