Canadian Premier Stephen Harper, who is in India on a three-day visit, arrived in Amritsar today morning and paid obeisance at the holiest Sikh shrine, Golden Temple.
He was given a warm welcome by the Sikh leaders when he arrived at the Golden Temple complex.
Dressed in a black suit, Harper covered his head with a white cloth-scarf.
Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal and Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) president Avtar Singh Makkar received the visitng dignitary at the Rajasansi airport.
Tight security measures have been in place at the shrine since morning.
