After the removal of embargo on India by the U.N. nuclear watchdog IAEA and the Nuclear Suppliers Group, the Canada-India Business Council (C-IBC) has urged Canada to continue the sale of nuclear reactors to India. The C-IBC is not happy with the Canadian administration as the former has denied the business visas to lots of Indians which is restricting the growth of trade between India and Canada.
Kam Rathee who is has recently completed his term as the President of C-IBC said that the current condition of the annual trade is not very healthy. It is about $4.1 billion annually. He further claimed that in order to revive the current condition the business persons of both the countries needed to visit each other's country. But the main problem is that Canada is reluctant to offer business visas to Indians.
Meanwhile, Rathee expressed his happiness at the recent lifting of embargo on India. He feels that this move will increase the opportunities of Canadians. Rathee stated that the recent Indo-Us nuclear deal has created more than 250,000 in US. Canada should also operate in the similar manner to expand its job market, he concluded. Founded by Bata Shoe Company owner Thomas Bata in 1982, C-IBC aims to promote trade ties between India and Canada.
