Almost two years after the execution of Saddam Hussein by America, US President George W Bush said that his 'biggest regret' in office was US intelligence reports that incorrectly carried that Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction (WMD).
Bush, in an interview with ABC News said that many people put their reputations on the line and said the “weapons of mass destruction” was a reason to remove Saddam Hussein. He further claimed that it was not just the people in his government but other members in the Congress who were all looking at the same intelligence.
He wished that the intelligence had been different. Bush also said that he was not even prepared for war when terrorists attacked the World Trade Center and Pentagon on September 11, 2001, only eight months into his presidency.
On September 11, 2001, nineteen Al-Qaeda terrorists hijacked four commercial passenger airliners and intentionally crashed two of them into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, killing everyone on board and many others working in the building. Both buildings collapsed within two hours, destroying at least two nearby buildings and damaging others. There are no survivors from any of the flights. Excluding the 19 hijackers, 2,974 people died in the attacks. Another 24 are missing and presumed dead.
