India’s largest telecommunications company, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) declared on Sunday, July 20 that it has entered into an alliance with the prominent telephone sets manufacturing company Beetel in order to introduce low-cost mobile handsets in Uttar Pradesh. BSNL chief general manager (UP East) Om Vir Singh, stated that the BSNL and Beetel will jointly introduce the mobile bundle offers in the state. Under this mobile bundle offer, the subscribers can purchase mobile handset for Rs.1,043 or Rs.1,695. Upon buying the mobile phone, they will also get a free talk time of Rs 1500. This, in a way, connotes that they are getting the mobile set for free. ‘The mobile sets would virtually come free to those accepting the mobile bundle offers as they would recover the cost of mobile sets in a month by the free talk value’, officials pointed out. The BSNL & Beetel’s mobile bundle offer will get launched in Uttar Pradesh within a month’s time, a BSNL officer informed.
