With a view to expand its market globally, state-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) has decided to go for major acquisitions. The telecom service operating company wants to spread its telecom service network on international frontiers. According to a company official, BSNL is eying to explore the markets of Africa and Middle East countries.  
 
The company is supposed to have cleared the initial formalities as far as offering its telecom service to Middle East is concerned. While attending the inaugural launch of BSNL's data card, the chairman and managing director of the company, Kuldeep Goyal informed that a plan has been finalised to offer broadband and mobile services in countries where these facilities do not exist.
 
Mr Goyal also informed that BSNL has planned to make its infrastructure division a separate entity so as to earn more revenues. Report says that the company has given the responsibility of managing its infrastructure business to American consultancy Boston Consulting Group. BSNL has decided to invest an amount of Rs.180 billion in current fiscal year to realise its expansion plans. 

Speaking about the future plans of the company, Goyal stated that BSNL expects to reach a mobile subscriber base of about 100 million by 2010-11. At present, the telecom company holds a mobile service base of 39.17 million subscribers. The managing director of BSNL also informed that company will launch its 3G services in east and north India at the initial stage, after that it will think of countrywide rollout.
